Senior Blues

This is my senior year and it’s off to a hard start. Your senior year is supposed to be your best year at school. I’m finding that hard to believe. When you’re a little kid you always look forward to your last year and “growing” up. When the year finally came around I found myself under a lot more stress then ever.

I have always been practicing and working hard for my senior year of football. Since I didn’t get to play football last year except punt I wanted my senior year to be great because I finally get to play. I continued to practice punting all year and got rather good at it. I won a punting camp in Nebraska and beat out forty kids and I realized I might have a sport that might bring me to college and really succeed in. I was extremely excited that I could finally play defense and help my team. Then a day before two-a-days I got really sick and ended up in the hospital with an illness. My neck swelled up so bad that I was having breathing issues. Almost all of my limp nodes in the left side of my neck were very swollen and doctors were running tests to make sure it wasn’t cancer developing. It was the scariest two days of my life, I don’t know how I would have made it threw it if my girl friend wasn’t at my side threw the whole thing. When the doctors finally determined it wasn’t cancer they sent my home and said it was a bacterial infection.

I missed all of two-a–days and now was very behind in football. A week after being in the hospital the doctors called saying I had mono. That means no full contact so any football again. All I can do is punt like last year. My senior is off to a terrible start. Now on top of mono I have a sinus infection adding to my discomfort. I am never going to be a hundred percent ever again this football season.

Senior year is supposed to be the best year of your life. Right now I find that hard to believe with all the recent events. So many things are supposed to be good your last year and I haven’t been able to locate any of them. Hopefully it will improve in the coming weeks.

  1. Dillon - What a bummer about your awful start to your senior year! That must really disappoint you, I liked how I could relate to the disappointment factor of your post. I now realize that I am not the only one having the not greatest start to an "exciting" year. Hopefully your year gets better, and keep writing!

  3. Keep your head up Dillon. Things will get better. Just keep playing your hardest and give all you've got to everything that you do.

  4. You must be getting hit pretty good on the field if your body is getting beat up that bad. Hang in there! Play each game like it could be your last.
